Introduction to Drawing
Class size will be limited for this series so please call the Library @ 231-264-9979 to register. 'Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain' by Betty Edwards was the inspiration for this class. To see with the right mind set we explore ways to change and challenge your visual perception with exercises from supplied worksheets that look at contours, negative space, and values. We look at perspective and learn to 'sight' which helps gauge distance and proportion more accurately. Class 1 - We explore why we have difficulty seeing what we want to draw. Look at materials available to artists, then do a grid and puzzle exercises. Class 2 - I have students do contour drawings. Then we look at light logic and shading. Class 3 - Negative space, patterns and composition exercises. Class 4 - Perspective and sighting exercises. All supplies are provided but you may bring some of your own.
