March 1 Sunday

Mar 01, 2020 to Mar 29, 2020

For the month of March as part of The Giving Year 2020, we are focusing on our furry friends and those who rescue and care for animals without a home. We are collecting donations for Silver Muzzle Cottage and Help From My Friends Pet Crisis Center. Both of these organizations help care for animals in our community who need a little help. Please consider dropping off donations of dog and cat toys, nutritional dog and cat treats, cat beds, Iams kitten food (dry and wet), laundry & dishwasher pods and/or paper towels at the Library for Help From My Friends or donating to Silver Muzzle on their website @ silvermuzzlecottage.com

Mar 17, 2020 from 05:30 PM to 06:30 PM
ERDL Meeting Room

Class size will be limited for this series so please call the Library @ 231-264-9979 to register. 'Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain' by Betty Edwards was the inspiration for this class. To see with the right mind set we explore ways to change and challenge your visual perception with exercises from supplied worksheets that look at contours, negative space, and values. We look at perspective and learn to 'sight' which helps gauge distance and proportion more accurately. Class 1 - We explore why we have difficulty seeing what we want to draw. Look at materials available to artists, then do a grid and puzzle exercises. Class 2 - I have students do contour drawings. Then we look at light logic and shading. Class 3 - Negative space, patterns and composition exercises. Class 4 - Perspective and sighting exercises. All supplies are provided but you may bring some of your own. Instructor: Christine Cook studied art at EMU
