March 1 Sunday

Mar 01, 2020 to Mar 29, 2020

For the month of March as part of The Giving Year 2020, we are focusing on our furry friends and those who rescue and care for animals without a home. We are collecting donations for Silver Muzzle Cottage and Help From My Friends Pet Crisis Center. Both of these organizations help care for animals in our community who need a little help. Please consider dropping off donations of dog and cat toys, nutritional dog and cat treats, cat beds, Iams kitten food (dry and wet), laundry & dishwasher pods and/or paper towels at the Library for Help From My Friends or donating to Silver Muzzle on their website @ silvermuzzlecottage.com

March 12 Thursday

Mar 12, 2020 from 06:00 PM to 07:30 PM
ERDL Meeting Room

They were women before their time, taking on the romantic, yet dangerous and physically demanding job of tending to the beacons that protected the shoreline. In all, some 40 women have been identified who excelled in this profession over the years — dating back as early as the 1840s and as recent as present day. Nearly 70 images of keepers, their families and their lights make up this presentation. The program includes readings from newspapers and autobiographies, as well as handouts including the list of featured ladies and additional reading references for attendees. Several of these women are featured in the book "Michigan's Haunted Lighthouses" - from The History Press / Arcadia Publishing, written by the presenter and author Dianna Stampfler. Following the presentation, a book sale / signing will be offered. The book is $20 cash or $21.19 credit charge.
